ISLAMABAD- Member of the Taliban committee and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-S
leader Maulana Samiul Haq has said that an American minister had pressed
Pakistan for an army operation in Wazirstan, which he said will only
benefit the elements who don’t want peace in the country.
Speaking to journalists today, he said that the US minister had raised this demand a few days ago. The cleric said that the Taliban distanced themselves from the recent attacks on Pakistan’s armed forces. Samiul Haq said that every political party had the right to hold protest demonstrations for which he said the time and situation was not favorable in the country. He said this in an apparent reference to Imran Khan and Allama Tahirul Qadri’s planned protest demonstrations.
