No change without fair polls: Imran Khan

FAISALABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said that no change could come to Pakistan without free and fair elections, and no power can stop people from making a new Pakistan.

Addressing thousands of supporters in Faisalabad Sunday, he accused Muslim League-Nawaz of stealing the last general elections and called for action under Article 6 against those responsible for the ‘massive’ rigging.
Free and fair election are the only guarantee for positive change, development and progress in the country and his party with support of the masses will lay foundation of new #Pakistan where citizens will enjoy social justice, have inborn rights and their aspirations will be fulfilled, he told the gathering at Dhobi Ghatt ground.

He alleged the government for using state machinery to stop people from attending the PTI rally. “I want to tell the ruling elite that passion and ideology could not be hurdled by force or any other tactic”, he added.
The PTI chief said a year has passed since the government took over the administrative charge but no positive change in the country has been witnessed during this time. “Laptops are being distributed to buy youth.” I want to ask the youth if they are getting jobs, he remarked. “I am the only politician who is given money, to run Shaukat Khanum Hospital.” Khan said PML-N govt broke all records of foreign loans in just one year instead of breaking the begging bowl as they promised before elections. He pledged he would tax the rich after coming into power. He said that money collected in the form of taxes would be spent on the people. “The biggest problem being faced by Pakistan is family limited politics. This is not democracy, it is monarchy,” he contended.

Khan accused PML-N, former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Geo News of rigging the elections and called for action under Article 6 against them after a probe. “I am talking about re-opening of four constituencies for vote verification. Massive rigging has been carried out in every constituency,” he contended. He announced that PTI would stage its next rally in Sialkot on June 7.

Who knew that a ‘free for all’ public concert featuring Naseebo Laal and Indian folk singer Hans Raj Hans on Sunday would become a bone of contention between the government and PTI, which claimed that it was but one of several ‘tactics’ that had been employed by the district administration to woo crowds away from their public meeting. Party supporters insisted that the government was all out to hamper the turnout at the Dhobi Ghat – the venue of the protest.

However, upon his arrival at the protest venue, the PTI Chief Imran Khan said the government’s tactics would not affect the PTI protest. “The government thinks people are fools, they think people are not serious and they can distract them by arranging concerts, but what the government does not know is that their time is up.”

On the other hand, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, in a news conference at Faisalabad the same day (Sunday), said PTI does not have any public agenda and there was nothing for the welfare of people in the demands of Imran Khan. He said Imran Khan spent millions of rupees for Faisalabad rally that was in no way of public service.

He said Faisalabad has rejected PTI and people from other districts are coming to attend the #PTI rally in the city. He said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has assured to invest two billion rupees for establishing a textile park and launching a 270 megawatt power project in Faisalabad.

The minister said the project will also provide jobs to the youth of the area. Rana said PML-N government was working day and night to end energy crisis.
