Former #President Bill Clinton said
Wednesday he was "dumbfounded" by reports that Republican strategist
Karl Rove suggested Hillary Clinton may have suffered brain damage after
being hospitalized for a blood clot in 2012.
"First
they said she faked her concussion and now they say she is auditioning
for her part on ‘The Walking Dead,’” Clinton said Wednesday during a
discussion with PBS's Gwen Ifill.
Clinton added that
there is no truth to the assertion and said it contradicts claims made
by Clinton critics who - at the time of the former secretary of state's
hospitalization - said it was a stunt to delay her Congressional
testimony on the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya.
"I
was sort of dumbfounded," #Clinton said. "They went to all this trouble
to say she staged what was a terrible concussion that required six
months of very serious work to get over...Now they say she has brain
damage."
Rove has disputed that he made the remarks,
reported in The New York Post's Page Six on Monday. He said he did not
use the term "brain damage" but maintains there are questions that will
need to be answered from Clinton's health scare if she runs for
president in 2016.
"You can't get too upset about it, it's just the beginning," Bill Clinton said. "They'll get better and better at it."
