The leader of Nigeria's Islamist
Boko Haram said Monday he would free more than 200 schoolgirls in
exchange for the release of militant prisoners.
In a video recording obtained by Agence France-Presse, Abubakar Shekau also claimed the girls had been converted to Islam.
"These girls have become Muslims," he said in the video, according to a translation from AFP.

The video, whose contents could not be independently verified by NBC
News, showed dozens of the girls wearing full veils praying in an
undisclosed location.
